Understand What You Are Diving Through
Nine SSI ecology courses that turn every fun dive into a field lesson. Learn to identify species, read behaviour and understand why Andaman Sea reefs look the way they do. Available individually or combined during your stay.
Ecology SpecialtyMarine Ecology
Understand the reef systems you are diving. Learn how Andaman Sea reef ecosystems function, how species interact and how to read environmental change underwater.
Learn more
Ecology SpecialtyShark Ecology
Identify reef sharks, understand their behaviour and learn why they matter to the health of the ecosystem. Andaman Sea offers near-guaranteed shark encounters on channel dives.

Ecology SpecialtyManta Ray Ecology
Learn manta identification, feeding behaviour and the cleaning station dynamic. Combine this course with suitable Khao Lak, Koh Bon or Richelieu Rock trip planning when conditions allow.

Ecology SpecialtySea Turtle Ecology
Distinguish between turtle species found in Thai Andaman waters, understand their nesting and foraging habits and learn how to observe them without causing disturbance.

Ecology SpecialtyFish Identification
Identify the reef fish families and species you encounter on every dive. Learn to read fish behaviour and use field identification techniques in the water.

Learn moreThailand as a Living Classroom
Andaman Sea has the marine diversity to make ecology courses genuinely compelling. Every dive site is a working reef with multiple species to identify and observe. Shark dives, manta cleaning stations, turtle habitats and coral gardens are part of our regular guided fun dive programme. Adding an ecology course means you understand what you are seeing, not just recording it on camera.
- Possible shark encounters on suitable offshore dives
- Seasonal manta ray chances on suitable offshore routes
- Turtles on suitable shallow reef sites around the Andaman Sea
- Hundreds of reef fish species across Andaman Sea dive sites
- Healthy hard and soft coral coverage on all training reefs
