The best Khao Lak dive site depends on who you are as a diver. A newly certified diver, a photographer, a manta-focused guest, a snorkeler, a returning diver and an advanced diver looking for current should not all be sold the same route. That is why this guide is built as a planning tool rather than a simple list of famous names.

If you want classic clear-water Andaman Sea scenery, start with the Similan Islands. If manta rays are your dream, ask about Koh Bon. If you want advanced current and pelagic movement, Koh Tachai may be relevant. If you want dense reef life and one of Thailand's most iconic offshore dives, Richelieu Rock belongs in the conversation. If your group includes snorkelers or reef-focused guests, Surin may be a strong fit. If you need a local dive, refresher, macro site or training day, Boonsung Wreck and local Khao Lak sites matter.

Koh Bon is the manta-associated route with West Ridge and pinnacle-style options. Koh Tachai is the more advanced pinnacle and current name. A good dive plan does not need to include every site. It should include the right sites in the right order. If you have not dived recently, start with a local check dive or easier route. If you are confident and conditions cooperate, build toward the bigger offshore names.
