SSI SCR Extended Range
The SCR Extended Range programme is for certified Horizon divers who want to push beyond standard recreational SCR limits — deeper profiles, longer bottom times and the refined buoyancy, trim and gas management that those dives demand. This is where SCR starts to reveal its real advantages over open-circuit for extended exploration of the Andaman Sea's deeper sites.

SCR Extended Range — Key Facts
Duration and Structure
- Digital learning : Advanced gas planning, extended range physiology and emergency protocols
- Skills review : Buoyancy, trim and emergency drills at depth
- Training dives : Four open water dives including extended-range profiles
- Certification : SSI SCR Extended Range digital card
Prerequisites
- Certification : SSI SCR Diving or equivalent
- SCR logged dives : Minimum 10 dives on the Horizon post-certification
- Age : Minimum 18 years
- Recommended : SSI Deep Diving specialty or equivalent depth experience
What You Can Do After
- Plan and execute extended-range no-decompression SCR dives
- Dive deeper reef walls and pinnacles with extended bottom time
- Apply advanced bailout planning for deeper profiles
- Foundation for further technical rebreather training if desired

Taking the Horizon Further
At extended range depths the consequences of system problems — and the complexity of bailout — increase. The course focuses on preparing you for those scenarios: gas planning that accounts for deep bailout consumption, buoyancy and trim refined for deeper water where small errors cost more, and problem-solving skills that work under pressure. Andaman Sea's deeper walls and channel sites serve as the classroom.
- Extended gas planning — calculating bailout volumes for deeper profiles with increased consumption
- Advanced buoyancy — trim, propulsion and positioning refined for extended bottom time at depth
- Deep problem-solving — emergency procedures practised at extended-range depths, not just shallow water
- Dive planning — profile design, turn pressures and ascent management for longer, deeper dives
- Site selection — choosing sites with appropriate depth profiles, exit options and current conditions
